THE DIFFERENT LEVELS OF PROPHETIC MINISTRY (Matthew 10:41)
- The Office of the Prophet - (Jeremiah 1:5) Read Chapter 1
The Prophet is God’s Mouth Piece in the earth. Deuteronomy 18:9-22 specifies & verifies how God will raise up a prophet. There is a divine authority that is given to speak directly to or into, (a person, a place, or a thing), to reveal, to rebuke & reprove, that is given to the individual that walks in the Office of Prophet. The Prophet has the prophetic gifting and also the authority to judge prophecy & other prophets. (1 Corinthians 14)
- Prophetic Ministry – Consists of prophetic gifting but is also given the authority to judge prophecy but not prophets.
- Prophetic Gifting – Often Called Speaking Gifts, or Gifts that Say Something.
(1 Corinthians 14)
Divers Kinds of Tongues – is a supernatural utterance in an unknown tongue.
Gifts of Interpretation of Tongues – is the supernatural showing forth by the spirit the meaning of the utterance in other tongues. It is not a translation of tongues; it is the interpretation of tongues.
Prophecy – a supernatural utterance in a known tongue & a declaration of what is about or going to happen.
Note: Beware of prophecies that cannot be judged
THE DIFFERENT FUNCTIONS OF THE PROPHET
- Prophets & Prophetic People – edify (meaning to build up), exhort (means to admonish or to warn) and comfort (mean to console) Read I Corinthians 14:3 These are the three areas that establish the basic foundation of prophecy in the church .
The Senior Prophet - position is to help assist in interpreting and bringing about clarity and understanding of revelatory gifts, dreams and visions and to verify and confirm the prophet's call to ministry mainly for training purposes.
Also, the Senior Prophet has authority over schools, over nations & move from place to place. Not just in the Church but also the marketplace.
- Elijah was a Senior, a Fathering, & a Mentoring Prophet to Elisha. These functions care for and develop you in your prophetic calling ( II Kings 2:12)
- Prophets are assigned by God to do six things - 1) root out, 2) pull down, 3) to destroy, 4) throw down, 5) to build, 6) to plant (Jeremiah1: 10)
- Prophets operate in various capacities; Dance, Sing, Act, Write, Play Music, draw prophetically, etc…
THE DIVERSE DIMENSIONS & REALMS OF PROPHECY
- Prophecy of Scripture – (II Peter 1:20-21) No Private Interpretation
Judging and Testing of prophecies are assured by the illumination of the Word of God. Prophecy of Scripture is sound and without error. A more sure word of prophecy cannot be anymore accurately inspired than by the written words.
- The Spirit of Prophecy – (Revelation 19:10) The anointing of the Holy Spirit enables the Spirit of Prophecy to operate in people who neither have the gift, nor ministry or the office. The Spirit of Prophecy can operate in anyone at anytime and can ignite from one individual unto another. (1 Samuel 10:6) The divine presence of the Lord will began to just cause people to speak, even donkeys.
- The Gift of Prophecy – (I Corinthian 12:10) Not all have the ability to speak for God, but can hear and relay to the congregation or Body of believers a message of edification, exhortation or comfort by way of the Holy Spirit.
- The Office of the Prophet - (Deuteronomy 18:9-22) The prophetic realm of foretelling and confirmation of ministries in the presbytery with the laying on of hands, done only by those who have the mantle of the office of the prophet. Prophets are vessels whom Christ chooses to function constantly and accurately in the realm of the word of wisdom, word of knowledge, discerning of spirits, confirmation, revelation, illumination, prophetic utterance, prediction, visions, corrections and ministry confirmation, dreams, trances and interpretations.
In the Church of Antioch, as a New Testament prophet Agabus was a prophet that moved in the realm of predictions. Other New Testament prophets moved in the realm of the presbytery confirmation of ministry.
Prophets must prophecy in accordance with the holy scriptures. Because prophets are human judges they are required to evaluate the accuracy and authenticity of that word. Prophets also generally walk in all nine gifts of the spirit and are a foundational laying gift to the Body of Christ.
